Chronic Pain and Vitamin D

Staying healthy requires an intricate balance of genetics, nutrition, hormones, and immunology. When any of these components are out of balance, we experience disease or pain. A recent research study from California looked at one tiny dimension of this connection by looking at the blood serum levels of vitamin D in pain patients who were getting treatment at an acute rehabilitation center.

The authors took blood samples from 414 people and assessed each of them for general muscle pain. The report discovered that people reporting musculoskeletal pain had significantly lower levels of vitamin D.

For that matter, test participants with a blood serum level of <20 ng/mL were 2.33 times more likely to suffer from pain than those with levels over 20 ng/mL.

If you’re troubled with long-term pain, there may be options for you. In our office, we assess a wide range of factors that may be contributing to your pain problems, including vitamin D, and we work with our patients to naturally restore your body’s natural function through chiropractic care.
